Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have been knocked out of IPL 2024. They lost their do-or-die match against Royal Challengers Bengaluru. Had CSK won that match or even avoided a defeat of more than 17 runs, the defending champions would have qualified for the playoffs in the tournament.

The season is in the history books for the Chennai Super Kings now. The mega auction will happen next, and the biggest question is whether MS Dhoni will play another season. Also, CSK will have to have a hard look at who are the players who can continue serving the team in the next cycle.

CSK should use their funds wisely in the next auction because they could not even find a place for the following two names, who had been retained for a sum of more than 1 crore each in the IPL.

    1. CSK retained Prashant Solanki for 1.2 crore in IPL 2024

Uncapped Indian leg-spinner Prashant Solanki received a massive deal worth INR 1.2 crore from the Chennai Super Kings in the mega auction of the 2022 season. Solanki played two matches for Chennai Super Kings in 2022, but got ignored for the entire season in the year 2023.

Even in 2024, the Chennai Super Kings team management could not find a place in the playing XII for Prashant Solanki. He is a talented leg-spinner, but somehow, CSK could not fit him in the team.

    2. Rajvardhan Hangargekar

Another uncapped Indian cricketer to feature on the list is Rajvardhan Hangargekar. The pace-bowling all-rounder received a deal worth INR 1.5 crore from the Chennai Super Kings in 2022. He made his debut in 2023, but he did not get any games in the 2024 season. It seems unlikely CSK will retain him for the next cycle.
