Abu Dhabi Knight Riders are one of the six franchises participating in the 2024 edition of the International League T20. As the name suggests, the franchise is the sister team of Kolkata Knight Riders, which is co-owned by Shah Rukh Khan. This franchise made its debut in ILT20 last year but had a forgettable outing.
Despite having the biggest overseas players of the Kolkata Knight Riders team, namely Andre Russell and Sunil Narine, the Abu Dhabi Knight Riders could not finish in the Top 4. This year, the team is second in the standings right now. They have won four out of their seven matches, and it looks like they will qualify for the playoffs this time.
While Sunil Narine and Andre Russell are in the current Kolkata Knight Riders squad as well, here’s a list of two forgotten KKR players who are playing for ADKR in ILT20 2024.
1. Marchant de Lange is playing for Abu Dhabi Knight Riders
South African fast bowler Marchant de Lange was a member of the KKR squad in the IPL 2012 season. The right-arm pacer played three matches for KKR, scalping three wickets. His economy rate of 10.7 was quite high, which is why he did not get more chances to play.
After almost 12 years, de Lange is donning the Purple and Gold jersey once again in his career. He is representing the ADKR team in ILT20 2024, just like the 2023 season.
2. Ali Khan
Ali Khan joined the Kolkata Knight Riders as a replacement in the IPL 2020 season. The American fast bowler did not receive a single opportunity to play in the IPL. Subsequently, KKR released him from their squad.
While Khan never played an IPL game, he has been a match-winner for the Knight Riders in other leagues. Apart from ADKR in ILT20, he also plays for Trinbago Knight Riders in CPL.
