Chennai Super Kings finished second-last in the IPL 2022 points table. The four-time champions had a horrendous season in 2022 as the captaincy change did not work. New captain Ravindra Jadeja struggled to perform well in his new role and handed the reins of the team back to MS Dhoni before the IPL 2022 season concluded. The coaches of CSK came under the scanner as well due to the team’s performance.
However, the Chennai Super Kings team management have not made too many changes after a poor IPL 2022 season. Their squad is more or less the same for the IPL 2023 season. The team management signed the likes of Ben Stokes, Ajinkya Rahane and Kyle Jamieson at the auction to strengthen the team and improve the position in the points table.
The group of coaches for the CSK team in IPL 2023 is almost similar to their IPL 2022 group. Former New Zealand batter Stephen Fleming is the head coach. The staff also features Eric Simons, Rajiv Kumar, R Russell, Gregory King and others.
A majority of the IPL fans may not know that the Chennai Super Kings’ support staff also features two former Mumbai Indians players. Here is a list of those two names.
1. Michael Hussey is a batting coach of CSK team
Former Australian batter Michael Hussey is a former Mumbai Indians player and is currently the batting coach of the Chennai Super Kings. Hussey was known as Mr. Cricket during his time as an active cricketer. He played just a solitary season for MI in 2014, while his all-other appearances came for Chennai.
2. Dwayne Bravo is a bowling coach of CSK team
This year, the Chennai Super Kings roped in West Indies legend Dwayne Bravo as their new bowling coach. L Balaji is the team’s regular bowling coach, but Bravo will replace him for one year in IPL 2023.
