Texas Super Kings will make their debut in Major League Cricket on Thursday evening against the Los Angeles Knight Riders. As the name suggests, TSK is the sister franchise of IPL team Chennai Super Kings in MLC 2023. The squad for the Super Kings team from Texas has been announced as well.
Several former CSK players have joined the franchise. The biggest name is Faf du Plessis, who was a member of the Chennai Super Kings team that won the Indian Premier League in 2011, 2018 and 2021. Apart from that, current CSK stars Devon Conway and Mitchell Santner have also joined the franchise. Gujarat Titans star David Miller will don the yellow jersey in MLC 2023.
Mumbai Indians have also bought a franchise, named MI New York in the Major League Cricket tournament. MI and CSK have been rivals in the Indian Premier League, but the following two former MI players will be playing for TSK in MLC 2023.
1. Dwayne Bravo will play for TSK in MLC
Like Faf du Plessis, Dwayne Bravo has been a member of multiple championship wins for the Chennai Super Kings in the Indian Premier League. Bravo remained a member of the CSK squad until 2022. In 2023, he became the bowling coach of the IPL franchise.
With Bravo joining MI Emirates for International League T20 and Trinbago Knight Riders for Caribbean Premier League, it seemed like fans would never see him in yellow again. However, the medium pacer received a deal from TSK for Major League and he will be back in yellow now.
2. Daniel Sams
Another former Mumbai Indians pace-bowling all-rounder, who will play for the Texas Super Kings is Daniel Sams. He played for MI in IPL 2022 and is best remembered for defending a target against the Gujarat Titans stars in IPL 2022.
Sams will offer a lot more balance to the TSK squad. Apart from Mumbai Indians, Sams has also been a part of RCB and DC in IPL.
