Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings are the two most successful teams in the Indian Premier League history. While MI have won the championship five times, CSK have captured the title in four seasons. In the IPL history, there have been multiple players who have played for both Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings.

MI have had seven captains in the Indian Premier League from 2008 to 2022. On the other side, only three players have got the opportunity to become the Chennai Super Kings skipper in IPL history. MS Dhoni has been the main captain, while Suresh Raina and Ravindra Jadeja led CSK in a few matches.

Dhoni, Raina and Jadeja have never played for MI in IPL, but the following two former MI players moved to CSK and then played under the leadership of MS Dhoni.

    1. Harbhajan Singh – 1st captain of Mumbai Indians

Mumbai named Sachin Tendulkar as their captain for the first edition of the Indian Premier League. However, the Master Blaster was having some injury issues, which is why he could not play the initial few matches of IPL 2008.

In his absence, Harbhajan Singh led MI. Even in 2012, when Sachin Tendulkar stepped down as MI captain, Harbhajan captained the Mumbai-based franchise. From 2008 to 2012, Harbhajan Singh led MI in 30 matches, registering 14 wins and 14 losses. MI released him ahead of IPL 2018, and then Bhajji joined the Chennai Super Kings.

    2. Dwayne Bravo

Not many fans would know that former West Indies captain Dwayne Bravo led MI in one match during the 2010 edition of the IPL. Bravo lost that match as MI captain. In 2011, the Chennai Super Kings signed him, and apart from IPL 2016 and 2017, where CSK did not participate, Bravo has always played for the Chennai-based franchise in the IPL.
