Chennai Super Kings are four-time champions of the Indian Premier League. Many consider them as one of the best teams of all time in league cricket history. The reason behind the success of the CSK franchise is that the team always backs its players. Over the years, Chennai Super Kings team has transformed many rookies into superstars.

Generally, CSK finish in the upper half of the points table. However, the same did not happen in IPL 2022. They finished ninth in the standings with only four wins in the entire competition. Because of the poor season, the Chennai Super Kings have let go of several players ahead of the IPL 2023 Auction.

The underperformers have been released unsurprisingly, but the following two names lost their deals despite not doing anything wrong as they did not get to play in any matches.

    1. CSK released C Hari Nishaanth

Tamil Nadu opener C Hari Nishaanth has made a name for himself with his top-class performances in domestic cricket. He was a backup opener option for the Chennai Super Kings team in IPL 2021 and 2022. However, it looks like the Super Kings will hunt for a new backup now.

Regular openers Ruturaj Gaikwad and Devon Conway have retained their places in the squad. Robin Uthappa has retired. It will be interesting to see if the Super Kings buy Hari Nishaanth back at the auction.

    2. K Bhagath Verma

K Bhagath Verma is another domestic cricketer who was with the Chennai Super Kings franchise in the last two seasons. He is a bowling all-rounder, who bowls right-arm off-spin. Verma could have been a decent backup option for Maheesh Theekshana and Moeen Ali.

However, the Super Kings have released him. There is a possibility that Chennai Super Kings re-sign both Bhagath Verma and C Hari Nishaanth at the IPL 2023 Auction.
