Winning the Man of the Match award is the aim of every cricketer irrespective of which format of the game or which team is he playing for. This award is given to the cricketer who performs the best out of the two teams, meaning the top performer from the 22 players who participate in a cricket match.

If a player is named the Player of the Match, nine out of 10 times, it means that he has helped his team win the match. It is a matter of pride for any player to win this prize, but to win it on a consistent basis is very difficult. Very few players have won this prize consistently in their careers.

As far as T20I cricket, playing consistent cricket in that format is very difficult because every game is a new challenge, and the players have little amount of time to settle in the middle. Not every player has struggled though, as the following two players won their first 10 Man of the Match award in 50 or less T20Is, meaning an award in every five or fewer number of matches.

Current Indian T20I batter Suryakumar Yadav has shattered many records in his short career already. He made his T20I debut against the England cricket team back in 2021. In less than two years, Yadav has played 45 T20I matches for the nation and won the Player of the Match award 10 times.

The most recent game where Yadav won this prize was the series decider between India and Sri Lanka at the SCA Stadium in Rajkot.

    2. Virat Kohli

Former Indian captain Virat Kohli previously held the record for taking the fewest matches to win 10 Player of the Match awards. He did so in 50 matches, but now Yadav has broken his record.
