The list of stadiums and matches for ICC World Cup 2023 were announced earlier today at an event in Mumbai. India will host the mega event in October and November later this year. There will be nine group stage matches for Team India, and all of them will take place at different venues.
Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium will host the much-awaited match between India and Pakistan, whereas the Indian cricket team’s first match will be against the Australian cricket team at Chennai’s MA Chidambaram Stadium. India will play against defending champions England at Lucknow’s Bharat Ratna Shree Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Stadium.
Like every ICC tournament, there will be a warm-up round of matches for all the participating teams. India will play two warm-up matches at other venues before the World Cup 2023 starts. Here is the list of the stadiums which will host India’s two warm-up games.
1. One of the most beautiful stadiums in India – Greenfield International Stadium, Thiruvananthapuram
Thiruvananthapuram has not received the hosting rights of the main event’s matches, but the city of Kerala will host the second warm-up match of the Indian cricket team on October 3, 2023.
India will play against the winner of the ongoing ICC Cricket World Cup Qualifiers 2023 in that match. It will most likely be against Zimbabwe or Sri Lanka.
2. Barsapara Cricket Stadium, Guwahati
The north-east city of Guwahati will also get the chance of hosting a match in Cricket World Cup 2023 warm-up round. Considered to be among the most gorgeous stadiums in the world, Barsapara Cricket Stadium will host a warm-up clash between India and defending champions England. It should be an epic battle between two of the best ODI teams in the world.
