Team India secured a 1-0 win in the away series against West Indies. The visitors dominated the proceedings in the first match of the ICC World Test Championship series at Windsor Park in Dominica and recorded an innings win. However, West Indies fought back in the second Test match and did not allow India to win until Day 5.
It looked like Rohit Sharma and co. would secure a win on the fifth day of the Trinidad Test while defending a target of 365 runs. However, rain did not allow any action on the final day of the match, forcing the organizers to end the match in a draw.
Courtesy of the rainfall at the Queen’s Park Oval in Trinidad, the match between India and West Indies ended in a stalemate. With this draw, two streaks of Indian team ended in Trinidad. Here’s a look at the two streaks which culminated.
1. Longest winning streak of Team India in Tests against West Indies
India and West Indies have been among the oldest rivals in Test cricket. Recently, the Trinidad Test match was the 100th meeting between the two sides. While India have dominated the recent series, there was a time when beating West Indies was a dream. In fact, WI still lead the overall head-to-head record against India.
India were on a five-match winning streak against West Indies ahead of the Trinidad Test. With the draw in Trinidad, that streak, which was India’s longest, has ended.

India won the previous Test series against West Indies in 2019 by 2-0. They started this series with a win against West Indies. However, the second match was a draw. Hence, India’s longest winning streak of three Tests on West Indies soil came to an end.
