Chennai Super Kings (CSK) are five-time champions of the Indian Premier League (IPL). They have won the championship in 2010, 2011, 2018, 2021 and 2023. Multiple batters of the Chennai-based franchise have even won the Orange Cap award for scoring the most runs in an IPL season.
Similarly, bowlers like Mohit Sharma and DJ Bravo have won the Purple Cap while donning the Chennai jersey in the IPL. CSK have also won the Fairplay Award on multiple occasions, while they have also secured the awards for Emerging Player and Best Catch.
CSK have achieved so much in the league, but they have never won the following three awards in the tournament’s final post-match presentation.
1. CSK have never won the IPL Most Valuable Player of the Season
The Most Valuable Player award is basically the Man of the Series. The player who earns the most points with his splendid batting and bowling gets this award. Kolkata Knight Riders‘ all-rounder Sunil Narine has alone won this award thrice. However, CSK have never had a single winner.
2. Most Sixes award
Over the years, CSK have had some of the best hitters in their squad like MS Dhoni, Suresh Raina, Albie Morkel, Matthew Hayden and many others. Still, none of them have been able to win the award for hitting the most sixes in the competition.
3. Highest strike rate of the season
As mentioned above, CSK have signed some of the best batters and hitters in the league’s history. However, none of them even won the award for the highest strike rate of the season. It will be interesting to see if the Chennai Super Kings can win any of the three awards in the upcoming tournaments.
