IPL started in the year 2008, but not many Bangladesh players have been able to have a big career in the Indian Premier League. Shakib Al Hasan and Mustafizur Rahman are the only two Bangladeshi cricketers who have made an impact with their performances in the Indian Premier League.
While Shakib has been a champion with the Kolkata Knight Riders, Rahman won the trophy with SunRisers Hyderabad and also won Emerging Player of the Season award. Apart from that, Taskin Ahmed was approached by Lucknow Super Giants to join them as a replacement for Mark Wood last season, but he did not receive the NOC.
While players like Shakib Al Hasan, Mustafizur Rahman and Taskin Ahmed have been in demand in the IPL, the following Bangladesh cricketers only got to play a single game in the league.
1. One of the former Bangladesh players Mashrafe Mortaza played only 1 match in IPL
Mashrafe Mortaza is a former Bangladesh cricket team captain. He is known for his right-arm pace and some big-hitting skills in the batting department. Mortaza played his first and last IPL match for the Kolkata Knight Riders in IPL 2009. Playing against Deccan Chargers, Mortaza gave away 58 runs in four overs and proved to be a villain for the KKR team.
2. One of the former Bangladesh players Mohammad Ashraful played only 1 match in IPL
Mohammad Ashraful was one of the top batting talents to emerge from Bangladesh. Mumbai Indians signed him in the year 2009, and he played his only game against Delhi Daredevils. Pradeep Sangwan dismissed him for two runs off 10 balls.
3. Abdur Razzak
Former Bangladesh left-arm spinner Abdur Razzak was among the first Bangladesh players to feature in the league. Razzak played for RCB in IPL 2008, conceding 29 runs in two overs against the Rajasthan Royals.
