    Deccan Chargers were a part of the first five editions of the Indian Premier League. The team represented the Hyderabad city in the IPL before SunRisers Hyderabad debuted in 2013. The Chargers won the 2009 edition of the league and made it to the semifinals in the 2010 season.

    Several big names played for this franchise, but the Chargers exited the league due to off-field reasons. Their last IPL match happened against Royal Challengers Bangalore in 2012, where the Chargers beat RCB by 9 runs and helped Chennai Super Kings qualify for the playoffs. Here’s a look at DC’s playing XI from that match, and where the players are now.

    Batters of Deccan Chargers – Shikhar Dhawan, Akshath Reddy, Kumar Sangakkara, Cameron White, JP Duminy and Parthiv Patel

    Dhawan and Reddy opened the innings but both got out in single digits. Sangakkara scored a 22-ball 15, while White managed only one run. Duminy played a match-winning knock of 74 runs. Wicket-keeper Patel aggregated 16 runs off 21 balls.

    Dhawan is the captain of Punjab Kings now, while Reddy plays domestic cricket. Sangakkara is the Director of Rajasthan Royals. White and Duminy have retired. Patel has retired as well. He works as a commentator and batting coach of MI Emirates.

    All-rounder and Bowlers: Ashish Reddy, Dale Steyn, Amit Mishra, Manpreet Gony and VP Singh

    Pace-bowling all-rounder Ashish Reddy bowled a match-winning spell of 3/25 in that match. Dale Steyn won the Man of the Match award for his fiery spell of 3/8 in four overs. Uncapped bowler Veer Pratap Singh bowled a decent spell of 1/26 in four overs, while Amit Mishra picked up two wickets. Manpreet Gony remained wicketless in his four overs.

    Reddy now works as a commentator. Steyn has retired and works as a bowling coach for SunRisers Hyderabad in IPL. Mishra will return to IPL 2023 as a new player for Lucknow Super Giants. Gony has retired and plays in other T20 leagues. VP Singh plays domestic cricket for Bihar.
