Ever since the league was launched, it was a challenge for the coaches to get the best performance from the teams. The reason behind it was that players from different nations of the world played for the same team. Foreign players and new uncapped Indian cricketers featured in the same squad.

Trevor Bayliss has been one of the most successful coaches in cricket history. He was the coach of the Kolkata Knight Riders team that won the IPL trophies in the year 2012 and 2014. Bayliss formed a good partnership with captain Gautam Gambhir, which eventually resulted in two championship wins for KKR.
2. One of the most successful IPL coaches Mahela Jayawardene – 3
Former Sri Lankan captain Mahela Jayawardene could not win an IPL trophy as a captain or a player in the league. However, he achieved great success as the head coach of the Mumbai Indians. Jayawardene was the coach of the Mumbai-based franchise when they lifted the title in the years 2017, 2019 and 2020.
1. One of the most successful IPL coaches Stephen Fleming – 5
The only coach to win more than three IPL trophies is Stephen Fleming. He is the head coach of the Chennai Super Kings team since the 2009 season. Fleming helped the Super Kings become the champions in the years 2010, 2011, 2018, 2021 and 2023.
