IPL 2025 auction happened a few nights ago in Saudi Arabia. It was a memorable event, with players from different parts of the world earning contracts from the 10 IPL franchises. A majority of the players will be from India only, but many overseas players also earned contracts.
The most expensive foreign player of this year’s auction was England’s white-ball captain Jos Buttler, who bagged a deal worth 15.75 crore from the Gujarat Titans. The Titans also roped in South African speedsters Gerald Coetzee and Kagiso Rabada along with New Zealand’s Glenn Phillips and West Indies all-rounder Sherfane Rutherford.
There is a lot of overseas flavor present in the Gujarat Titans squad alone, but there are 3 nations who played in the 2023 World Cup last year in India, and all of their players are missing from IPL 2025 teams.
1. Bangladesh players will not play in IPL 2025
It is quite surprising to note that none of the IPL franchises have invested in Bangladeshi talents. There are so many talents in Bangladesh like Shakib Al Hasan, Mustafizur Rahman, Mehidy Hasan Miraz and Rishad Hossain. However, none of the IPL teams bid for them. Perhaps, the IPL franchises were unsure of their availabilities, which is why they did not take the risk of signing any Bangladeshi player.
2. Pakistan
Pakistan players do not have permission to play in the IPL after the 2008 season ended. The Pakistani players can register as a player of under country if they have a passport, but apart from that, there is no other way a Pakistani player can play in IPL. Thus, there are zero players from Pakistan this season as well.
3. Netherlands
Netherlands emerged as the surprise package of the previous World Cup, which happened in India. The Dutch team has also done well in the T20 World Cups. However, they have zero representatives in the Indian Premier League this year.
