A few cricketers are not in great form at the moment. Hence, despite their good position in the ICC rankings, they might still not get a spot in the squad for the World Cup.

Note: The rankings are as of April 14th, 2024.

    1) Yashasvi Jaiswal – No.6th ranked batter

Until the 6th match for Rajasthan Royals, Yashasvi Jaiswal failed to survive beyond the powerplay. This is disappointing for a player who has been the best Indian T20I batter in recent times. With Virat Kohli also doing well as an opener and the likes of Abhishek Sharma and Shubman Gill in the fray, as well, it could tough times for Jaiswal.

    2) Axar Patel, the No.4th ranked bowler, is not a guarantee in the 2024 T20 WC squad

IPL 2024 has not been good for Axar Patel, till now. Neither with the bat nor the ball has the Gujarat all-rounder done well. Ravindra Jadeja has, at least, been disciplined with the ball. He is experienced and is likely to cement a spot. The likes of Krunal Pandya are also doing well and hence, Axar is under pressure to deliver.

    3) Ravi Bishnoi – No.5 the ranked bowler

Ravi Bishnoi is one of the Indians in the Top 10 T20I rankings but may struggle to be in the 2024 T20 WC squad. The LSG bowler has not been in great touch in the ongoing IPL. On the other hand, despite having injury issues, Kuldeep Yadav is doing well in the middle overs. He is picking wickets consistently and hence, Bishnoi might struggle to get a chance. On top of this, Yuzvendra Chahal is also in cracking form and hence, Bishnoi is in trouble.
