Scoring a century in international cricket is the dream of every batter. Although even a small contribution can help in winning a match sometimes, the fans have an obsession with the three-figure mark, and even the retired cricketers look at the number of half-centuries and centuries scored by batters while deciding who had a better career.

On a majority of the occasions, whenever a batter records a hundred in any format of the game, he ends up on the winning side. In some matches, when the luck does not favor his side, the centurion even ends up on the losing side. However, there have been three such rare instances in Indian cricket history, where a batter completed a hundred, and then the match got abandoned.

    1. Sachin Tendulkar scored a century vs England which ended with no result

Former Indian cricket team opener Sachin Tendulkar owns the record for the highest individual score by a batter for the Men in Blue in a match that ended with no result. Tendulkar remained not out on 105 against England at the Riverside Ground in 2002. Tendulkar’s hundred guided India to 285/4 in 50 overs.

Chasing 286 for a victory, the home team was 53/1 after 12.3 overs when the match had to be halted. There was no further play, and the officials abandoned the game.

Another former Indian opener to feature on the list is Gautam Gambhir. The left-handed batter scored an unbeaten 102 against Sri Lanka during a tri-series match in Australia. India scored 267/4 in 50 overs, and the match ended with no result.

    3. Robin Singh

Robin Singh recorded the highest score of his ODI career against Sri Laka during a match at the SSC Ground in Colombo on August 23, 1997. He scored 100 and helped India post 291/9 on the board. Sri Lanka were 132/6 after 19 overs when the match ended with no result.
