Pakistan Super League (PSL) started in the year 2016. It is the premier T20 competition of Pakistan, where players from different parts of the world come to play with the top Pakistani talents. Several big names of Pakistan cricket like Shahid Afridi, Misbah-ul-Haq, Wahab Riaz, Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan, Mohammad Amir and several others have been a part of this league.
The PSL team owners have even managed to secure the services of overseas legends like Kieron Pollard, Brendon McCullum, AB de Villiers, Darren Sammy, Faf du Plessis, Shane Watson, Kevin Pietersen and Eoin Morgan. Despite their efforts, the league has not yet achieved the heights of IPL, BBL or other tournaments.
Fans still witness empty stadiums for the matches of Pakistan Super League. On top of that, the competition also failed to find a TV broadcaster in India this year. Interestingly, the following three leagues started after Pakistan Super League and are already more popular.
1. WPL has become more popular than PSL

Women’s Premier League was launched by the BCCI in the year 2023. In just one year, WPL has become a big brand with five teams participating in the tournament. The popularity of the league is such that thousands of fans come to watch fans live at the stadiums even on the weekdays.
2. SA20
SA20 did not even exist two years ago, but it is among the most-followed cricket leagues in the world now. With six IPL-based franchises of South Africa, the owners and broadcasters have managed to form a fantastic tournament. It attracts thousands of fans in South Africa to the stadiums.
3. ILT20
UAE’s new T20 league, ILT20 took place with empty stands in the first season, but fans showed up in huge numbers to watch the matches live in the Gulf nation earlier this year in season two. The popularity of ILT20 has increased significantly in just two years.
