Lucknow Super Giants have appointed Zaheer Khan as their new mentor ahead of the IPL 2025 Auction. Khan will play an important role in the team’s backroom staff as well as scouting team. Plus, he will have the responsibility to motivate the young bowlers in the team.
Despite the appeal from some teams, BCCI is unlikely to change its stance on a mega auction in 2025. The teams will have to let go of a majority of their big names before the auction. Even the Lucknow Super Giants will get to retain a few of the players from their current squad.
Speaking of LSG, the team will likely revamp its fast-bowling attack, and with Zaheer Khan joining the team management, here’s a list of three left-arm fast bowlers the Lucknow-based franchise may target.
1. Lucknow Super Giants may target T Natarajan
T Natarajan has been the most underrated Indian performer in the IPL. He has been a death-overs specialist, and his left-arm pace has troubled many batters. The left-arm fast bowler can be a welcome addition to the Lucknow-based team. The pitch in Bharat Ratna Shree Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Stadium will suit a bowler like Natarajan, who prefers to trouble the batters with his variations.
2. Spencer Johnson
Spencer Johnson made his IPL debut earlier this year for the Gujarat Titans. Since he was under the pressure of 10 crore price tag, Johnson could not deliver his best. Also, the Titans were unsure of their team combination for a lot of games. Perhaps, LSG could rope him in at a smart price, and then under Zaheer Khan’s guidance, Spencer can become a dangerous Johnson like Mitchell Johnson was.
3. Dilshan Madushanka
Sri Lankan left-arm fast bowler Dilshan Madushanka received a mega bid from Mumbai Indians, but he missed the IPL due to injuries. The left-arm pacer will likely be available for IPL 2025, and LSG should try to sign him. He has enormous talent. With Khan’s guidance, he can become a long-term asset for the Super Giants.
