The Cricket World Cup is the biggest stage in the sport of cricket for any cricketer or nation to showcase their talent to the world. It happens once in every four years, with the next edition slated to happen in India in 2023. The England cricket team won the previous edition of the mega event by defeating the New Zealand cricket team in the final via a Super Over.

Over the years, the International Cricket Council has altered the number of participants in the World Cups. In the previous edition, only 10 teams participated in the tournament. Test-playing nations Zimbabwe and Ireland did not get an opportunity to showcase their skills at the grand stage. However, ICC plans to increase the number of teams in the near future.

Speaking of the various teams that have played at the World Cups, here’s a list of three cricketing nations who once made it to the big event but disappeared from the main stream soon.

    1. Bermuda appeared at the 2007 Cricket World Cup

Many Indian cricket team fans would remember that Bermuda was a part of the 2007 World Cup. They were a part of the same group as the Indian cricket team. In fact, Bermuda was the only team that India managed to defeat in that tournament. India exited the competition early after losing against eventual runners-up Sri Lanka and neighbors Bangladesh.

    2. East Africa played in the 1975 Cricket World Cup

East Africa just made a solitary appearance at the inaugural edition of the World Cup. Again, they found themselves in the same group as India. They were the first nation that India defeated in a CWC match.

    3. Canada

Unlike Bermuda and East Africa, Canada appeared at multiple editions of the CWC. They qualified for the mega event in 2003, 2007 and 2011. However, at the moment, they are nowhere near the top-tier teams.
