IPL is one of the most popular T20 leagues in the world right now. Many cricketers have achieved fame by performing well in the Indian Premier League. The BCCI sold franchises to business tycoons and Bollywood celebrities in the inaugural season. With the involvement of Bollywood stars, glamor has surrounded this tournament since the first night.
While the team owners of the franchises from Bollywood have remained the same over the last many years, the other celebrities who come to support the teams have switched loyalties more than one time. Here’s a list of three such celebrities who have been associated with more than one franchise.
1. Sania Mirza supported 2 different IPL teams before joining RCB Women as a mentor
Former Indian women’s tennis player Sania Mirza is the first name to feature on the list. Mirza married Pakistani cricketer Shoaib Malik. Besides, she also came to the stadiums to support former Indian Premier League Pune Warriors back in the 2013 season. Incidentally, she came to support Pune in a match against the Royal Challengers Bangalore, and has now joined RCB as a mentor for the Women’s Premier League.
Apart from RCB and PWI, Mirza also came to support the SunRisers Hyderabad at the stadium once during the sixth edition of the Indian Premier League.
2. Badminton star Saina Nehwal
Like tennis star Sania Mirza, badminton star Saina Nehwal has also been associated with two different Indian Premier League teams. She was a brand ambassador for the now-defunct Deccan Chargers team in the initial seasons. After that, in 2013, Nehwal was spotted in the stadium cheering for the Pune Warriors team.
3. Sushant Singh Rajput
Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput is famous for playing MS Dhoni’s role in his biopic. Rajput supported four different teams. He was spotted with Preity Zinta, cheering for Punjab Kings, then with Kriti Sanon, cheering for Rising Pune Supergiant. Rajput also donned CSK and RR’s jerseys at stadiums during other games.
