Kaviya Maran has emerged as one of the most successful franchise team owners in the cricket world. Her team Sunrisers Hyderabad won the IPL in just three years of its debut, and now, in SA20, her team Sunrisers Eastern Cape has won back-to-back championships in the first two seasons itself.
According to a report by Cricbuzz, SRH team owners are now interested in investing in English cricket as well. There have been murmurs of Indian investors joining ECB’s The Hundred and saving the tournament. If Kaviya Maran buys a Sunrisers team in the Hundred tournament also, here’s a list of the three probable players who can lead the team.
1. Kaviya Maran had signed Jonny Bairstow in IPL
England wicketkeeper batter Jonny Bairstow has been a part of the Punjab Kings team in the last two IPL seasons. Before that, Bairstow played for the Sunrisers Hyderabad from 2019 to 2021. He formed a magnificent partnership with David Warner at the top of the order.
Considering the popularity that Bairstow got while playing for the Sunrisers Hyderabad team, Kaviya Maran can think of appointing him as the captain in England.
2. Adil Rashid
Leg-spinner Adil Rashid has played in many T20 leagues across the world. He has gained enormous experience. Being a former Sunrisers Hyderabad player in the IPL, Rashid has an outside chance of becoming the skipper in case the Maran family shows interest in buying a franchise.
3. Harry Brook
Harry Brook received a mega deal from the Sunrisers Hyderabad team in his debut season itself. Brook scored a century for the Orange Army, but he was quite inconsistent. Eventually, SRH released him, and now he has joined DC. Since Brook is a world-class talent, SRH can think of appointing him as their captain in England league.
