IPL is one of the best T20 tournaments in the world, and it attracts a lot of viewership every night because the fans love to watch top-quality cricket on the field. In the last 15 years, there have been some incredible matches in the tournament’s history.
The league has grown by leaps and bounds ever since its inception in the year 2008. All-rounders have been an important part of the tournament because if a player can do well with the bat and with the ball as well, he can provide the services of two players in one spot of the playing XI.
Quite a few all-rounders have produced fantastic performances in the league’s history. Some of them even scored a half-century and bagged a four-wicket haul in the same match. However, quite surprisingly, their teams ended up losing the game. Here’s a list of three such all-rounders.
1. Yuvraj Singh achieved this feat twice in IPL
The only player to have scored 50 and taken four wickets yet ended up on the losing side in an Indian Premier League match twice is Yuvraj Singh. The former Indian all-rounder is regarded by many as the greatest of all time.
Playing for the Pune Warriors in the 2011 season, Singh scored 66 and bowled a spell of 4/29 against the Delhi Daredevils at the Dr. DY Patil Sports Academy. However, PWI lost the match. Three years later, Singh scored 83 and picked up a four-wicket haul against Rajasthan Royals while playing for RCB at M Chinnaswamy Stadium. Yet, RCB lost the game.
2. Rashid Khan
Gujarat Titans vice-captain Rashid Khan joined this list last night while playing at the Wankhede Stadium against the Mumbai Indians. Khan scalped a four-wicket haul in the first innings and then played an incredible innings of 79 runs from 32 balls. Yet, Khan’s team GT lost against MI.
3. Mitchell Marsh
Another incident happened in IPL 2023 only, where an all-rounder scored a 50 and took four wickets, but his team lost the game. It was in the match between DC and SRH, where Delhi’s Australian all-rounder Mitchell Marsh scored 63 and bowled a spell of 4/27. However, DC lost the game at the Arun Jaitley Stadium.
