    Sanju Samson

Sanju Samson is one of the best batters in Indian cricket right now. Earlier this year, he led the Rajasthan Royals to the IPL 2022 Final. Also, he helped India win the T20I series against the Ireland cricket team and the West Indies cricket team with his wicket-keeping skills.

After India’s early exit from Asia Cup 2022, a report emerged claiming that the selectors may recall Sanju Samson for the team for the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup 2022. While nothing is confirmed as of now, here are three roles which Samson could play if he is picked for the mega event in Australia.

    1. Sanju Samson can be a backup opener

Samson opened the innings for the Indian cricket team in the T20I series against the Ireland cricket team. It was in that series that Samson scored his maiden T20I fifty. With his ability to hit boundaries quickly, Samson will be a decent option to be a backup opener for the country in the T20 World Cup.

The grounds in Australia are bigger and having someone like Samson would benefit the Indian squad a lot, especially if one of the main batters is unavailable due to any reason.

    2. Number 3 batter if Virat Kohli opens the innings

Virat Kohli played one of the best T20I knocks of his career last night against Afghanistan. He scored runs at a fantastic strike rate and has given a headache to the team management now.

If Kohli performs like this as an opener, he should be played at that position only. Rohit Sharma and Kohli could open the innings for India, with explosive batters like Sanju Samson and Suryakumar Yadav right behind them.

    3. Finisher

India have struggled to finish the innings well in Asia Cup 2022 matches. Rishabh Pant and Hardik Pandya could not make the most out of the opportunities. Pandya will continue in the team because he is a fast-bowling all-rounder, but Pant might lose his place to Sanju.
