Some teams even have two home venues. For example, Punjab Kings will play two of their home matches in Dharamsala. Similarly, Rajasthan Royals also played two of their home games in Guwahati. There is a massive distance between Guwahati and Jaipur, but RR used the Barsapara Cricket Stadium as their home venue.

Like Rajasthan Royals, the following six teams also raised eyebrows when they decided to use a stadium far from their home as a home ground.

    1. Mumbai Indians and Rising Pune Supergiant played home matches in Vizag in IPL 2016

Maharashtra had two franchises in the 2016 edition of the Indian Premier League. Due to the water issues in the state, the officials of MI and RPS had to move their home games out of Mumbai and Pune. They chose Vizag’s ACA-VDCA Stadium as their new home venue for that season.

    2. Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium as home of Punjab Kings and Chennai Super Kings

Punjab Kings played some of their home matches at the MCA Stadium in Pune, which is quite far away from Mohali. Even the Chennai Super Kings had to move their matches out of Chennai in 2018 and they opted for Pune as the backup venue.

    3. Holkar Stadium as home of Kochi Tuskers Kerala and Punjab Kings in IPL

Madhya Pradesh has never had its own team in the league, but Indore’s Holkar Stadium has been a home venue for two franchises. In 2011, Kochi Tuskers Kerala played home games there, while PBKS used it as an alternative home venue in 2017 and 2018.
