IPL has earned the tag of being the best T20 league in the world, and the reason behind it is that the tournament continues to provide the craziest of the finishes possible in cricket history. When T20 cricket started, very few fans would have even imagined in their wildest of the dreams that a team can chase 40 runs off the last 12 balls. However, this feat has been achieved thrice in the history of the Indian Premier League thus far. Here’s a list of the three instances.

    1. Sunrisers Hyderabad chase 41 off 12 balls against Rajasthan Royals, 2023

The most recent entry on this list is from the 2023 edition of the Indian Premier League. The Sunrisers Hyderabad needed 41 runs from 12 balls, and Glenn Phillips played one of the most impactful knocks of the season to help SRH win the match. Abdul Samad smacked a boundary when SRH needed four off one, and before that, Phillps whacked three back-to-back sixes off Kuldip Yadav’s bowling.

    2. Kolkata Knight Riders chase 43 runs off 12 balls against GT, IPL 2023

Perhaps, the craziest finish in T20 history happened at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad this year, where the Kolkata Knight Riders stunned defending champions Gujarat Titans.

Yash Dayal had to defend 29 runs off the last over. Rinku Singh went berserk and smacked five sixes off the last five balls to help KKR win.

    3. Chennai Super Kings chase 43 runs off 12 balls against RCB, 2012

The record for the most runs scored in the last two overs of a successful run-chase in the league was in 2012, where CSK scored 45 runs off the last 12.

Albie Morkel was the batter in the middle when CSK needed 43 off 12. RCB surprisingly gave the 19th over to Virat Kohli, and he leaked 28 runs. In the end, CSK won the game by scoring 2 runs more than required target.
