IPL 2025 Mega Auction will happen later this year. The rules for the mega event came out yesterday, and the exciting set of rules has made the cricket universe extremely interested in the auction. This year, the teams can retain a maximum of six players only, that too via RTM and retentions combined.
There are two slots available for uncapped players in the retention and RTM list. If a team decides to retain an uncapped player before the auction, they can do it for just INR 4 crore.
Royal Challengers Bengaluru have some extremely talented uncapped players in their squad, and here’s a look at the three players whom they can think about retaining for the new season.
1. RCB can retain Karn Sharma as an uncapped player before IPL 2025 Mega Auction
It may surprise a few fans to see Karn Sharma’s name on this list, but Karn is technically an uncapped player as per the new rule of IPL. This new rule allows the senior player to qualify as an uncapped player if he has not played an international match in last five years for India and hasn’t been centrally contracted with BCCI either. Karn ticks both boxes. Hence, RCB can pull off a masterstroke by retaining him.
2. Swapnil Singh
Over the years, fans have given the nickname of ‘unlucky team’ to RCB in IPL. However, last year, Swapnil Singh proved to be the lucky charm for the team as they made a comeback out of nowhere to qualify for the playoffs. Thus, RCB can think of retaining their magical all-rounder.
3. Mahipal Lomror
It is hard to find quality young Indian all-rounders these days. RCB already have a gun all-rounder in Mahipal Lomror in their squad, who can bat in the middle-order and play the finisher’s role as well. In IPL 2024, Lomror had an excellent strike rate of more than 180, making him a wildcard for a retention before IPL 2025.
