T20 World Cup 2022 is happening in Australia right now with the first round of the competition already in the history books. The mega event promises to be a blockbuster one as there have been some memorable games in this year’s tournament already. Last Sunday, India defeated Pakistan by four wickets in one of the most exciting T20 WC matches of all time.
The 16 teams participating in the tournament have not just named high-profile squads for the T20 World Cup 2022, but they also have announced star-studded coaching staffs as well. Interestingly, some of the IPL team coaches are also coaching for teams in T20 WC 2022. Here’s a list of four such names.
1. Gary Kirsten
Gary Kirsten was the batting coach and consultant for the Gujarat Titans in their IPL 2022-winning campaign. Kirsten has been the head coach of India and South Africa in the past, but at this year’s T20 WC, he is a batting consultant for the Netherlands team.
2. Lasith Malinga, Fast-bowling coach of Sri Lanka in T20 World Cup 2022
Lasith Malinga joined the Rajasthan Royals as a fast-bowling coach ahead of IPL 2022. Malinga previously played for the Mumbai Indians in the IPL and took heaps of wickets. After retirement, he also joined Sri Lanka as a fast-bowling coach.
3. Mark Boucher, Head coach of South Africa in T20 World Cup 2022
Current South African cricket team head coach Mark Boucher is set to leave the Proteas after the mega event ends. He has already signed with the Mumbai Indians as their new head coach for IPL 2023.
4. Michael Hussey
Michael Hussey is the batting coach of the Chennai Super Kings in the IPL. The former Australian batter has joined the England cricket team as a consultant for the ongoing mega event in Australia.
