International cricket is an arena where nepotism doesn’t work. While the connection of a successful father can help his son play one or two matches, he cannot fix his place in the team unless he performs well for the team.
Also, there are families, where cricket runs in the blood, and they keep producing cricketers across generations. In fact, there have been four such cricketers of the current era, whose grandfathers also played international cricket professionally. Here’s a list of four such players.
1. Kevin Curran – the grandpa of Curran brothers
The trio of Curran brothers, namely Sam, Ben and Tom have made their family proud by playing international cricket. Sam and Tom play for the England cricket team, while Ben plays for Zimbabwe team. Their father Kevin Curran played for Zimbabwe, while their grandfather, also named Kevin Curran also turned up for Zimbabwe, which was then known as Rhodesia.
2. Hanif Mohammed played international cricket
Hanif Mohammed was an opening batter who turned up for the Pakistan cricket team in 55 Test matches. Mohamed’s many family members made it to the pro cricket world. One of them was his grandson Shehzar Mohammad, who has played 45 first-class matches so far.

Pace-bowling all-rounder Logan van Beek belongs to a rare group of players who plays domestic matches in New Zealand and international matches for the Netherlands. His grandfather Sammy Guillen also played for two countries, namely West Indies and New Zealand.
