Rishabh Pant is the number one wicket-keeper batter in India right now. Many fans even consider him as one of the top wicket-keeper batters in world cricket. He has made a name for himself with his stupendous performances in Test cricket, while he is gradually improving in ODIs and T20Is.
Just a few years ago, Pant was playing U-19 cricket for India, but now he has the experience of leading the Indian team. Not every player who started his international career with Pant could make it big like him. The following four names are nowhere near the Indian team right now, having made their debuts in the same year as Rishabh.
(Please Note: Rishabh Pant made his T20I debut in 2017 and ODI, Test debuts in 2018.)
1. Parvez Rasool made his T20i debut in same year as Rishabh Pant
Jammu and Kashmir cricketer Parvez Rasool made his T20I debut against England on January 26, 2017. It proved to be his only T20I as he was dropped after scoring five runs and returning with figures of 1/32 on his debut.
2. Siddarth Kaul made his ODI debut in same year as Rishabh Pant
Fast bowler Siddarth Kaul started his ODI career in 2018 against England. He played three ODIs for India but failed to take any wickets. He has not played any ODI matches since Asia Cup 2018.
3. Khaleel Ahmed – ODIs
Another fast bowler who made his ODI debut in 2018 was Khaleel Ahmed. The left-arm fast bowler made his debut against Hong Kong. He scalped 15 wickets in 11 ODIs but has not played for India since August 2019.
4. Prithvi Shaw – Tests
Prithvi Shaw played his debut Test in 2018. Shaw started off with a ton against West Indies and scored 339 runs in his first four Tests. After a disastrous performance against Australia in 2020, Shaw was dropped from the team. He has not played any Test matches since the Day/night Test of 2020.
