IPL is one of the most-followed sports tournaments in the world. The viewership of every game of this league is in crores, and even the players earn in crores while playing this tournament. The importance of the league has increased so much that players are preferring the league over international cricket these days.

BCCI has done a great job as far as innovation in the league is concerned. The rule of Impact Player brought about a fresh change in the league last year, and here are four other new rules which the league should introduce in the coming years.

    1. IPL should have 1 associate nation player compulsory in each squad

Associate nations have produced some quality cricketers in recent years, but these players have not received contracts in Indian Premier League because of the overseas quota. Perhaps, the board can keep a separate quota for overseas players and even allow a low base price of INR 1 lakh or 5 lakh for such players so that they get exposure.

    2. IPL should have home and away kits for all teams

In 2016/17, Royal Challengers Bangalore had a home and away kit. However, not all teams have followed this practice. It gives all teams a fresh vibe for home and away games, which is why the board should consider doing it.

    3. Remove parent team rule from mid-season transfer

Mid-season transfer window has been a part of IPL in the last few seasons, but not a single team has used it. One of the reasons behind it is that as per the transfer rule, the transferred player cannot play against his ‘parent’ team, means the team which signed him first. Hence, this should be changed, so mid-season trades can happen.

    4. Power booster rule

At times, viewership of matches decline during the middle overs when batters focus majorly on singles and doubles. Perhaps, the board can cut down the powerplay to 5 overs at the start. Then, the batting team can take 1 over of powerplay between 10-15 overs, making the match more interesting.
