For the first time since undergoing a name change, the Delhi-based franchise failed to qualify for the IPL playoffs. Delhi Capitals finished in the Top 4 during the 2019, 2020 and 2021 editions of the Indian Premier League, but this year, they narrowly missed out on a spot in the next round.

DC had a chance to qualify for the playoffs by defeating the tenth-placed Mumbai Indians in their last league game. However, the Delhi-based franchise failed to do so and had to leave the tournament early. Delhi may release a few names from their squad ahead of IPL 2023. Here’s a list of four players DC might release.

    1. Delhi Capitals may not retain Tim Seifert

New Zealand’s wicket-keeper Tim Seifert scored only 24 runs in the two games he got for DC. He had a chance to impress in Warner’s absence, but Seifert could not cement his place in the team.

    2. Delhi Capitals may release Kamlesh Nagarkoti

Kamlesh Nagarkoti is one of the top fast bowlers in the country right now, but the Delhi-based franchise just have too many resources in their pace attack to give consistent chances to Nagarkoti. He got only one match this season. It will be better for the player if Nagarkoti joins another team and plays regularly.

    3. KS Bharat

Just like Kamlesh Nagarkoti, KS Bharat is a player who would find a place in the playing XI of most franchises. However, he warmed the benches at DC in IPL 2022 and could make an impact when he got the chance to play.

    4. Mandeep Singh

Delhi tried Mandeep Singh in three matches, but the former Punjab Kings opener got out for a duck twice. His strike rate was less than 100 this season, which might force the team management to think about releasing him.
