Sunrisers Hyderabad are among the few teams to have joined the Indian Premier League after the 2008 season and won the championship. The Hyderabad-based franchise made their debut in the year 2013, replacing the Deccan Chargers. SRH qualified for the playoffs in their debut season itself, and three years later, they won their maiden IPL trophy.

From 2016 to 2020, SRH were the most consistent team in the league as they made it to the Top 4 in every season. Plus, they played two finals, winning one and losing one. However, since 2021, the Hyderabad-based franchise has struggled a lot in the league.

One of the main reasons behind it is the constant chopping and changing which has happened in the squad. Here’s a look at the four players Sunrisers Hyderabad should have never released.

    1. Sunrisers Hyderabad should not have released Rashid Khan

Rashid Khan is one of the top leg-spinners in the world. He has also improved his batting a lot and transformed into a complete T20 all-rounder now. Khan asked SRH to retain him as their first retention before the mega auction in 2022, but Hyderabad preferred Kane Williamson over him.

    2. Sunrisers Hyderabad should not have released Trent Boult

Not many fans would remember that Trent Boult has been a part of SRH as well. The Kiwi pacer is the top powerplay bowler in the world at the moment. SRH signed him for 3.8 crore in 2015 but released him before the 2017 season.

    3. Jonny Bairstow

While SRH did not decide to retain David Warner and Rashid Khan in 2022, they still had the option of retaining Jonny Bairstow. However, the Hyderabad-based franchise ignored the England opener as well and released him.

    4. KL Rahul

KL Rahul played for Hyderabad in 2014 and 2015. It was in 2016 that he started to realize his full potential, and he hit his peak from 2018 to 2022. Rahul could have been a long-term asset for Hyderabad had they backed him initially in his career.
