The player who performs the best in the 50-over format of the game wins this award. Over the last few years, some of the greatest players of world cricket like Kumar Sangakkara, Andrew Flintoff, Kevin Pietersen, Michael Hussey, Matthew Hayden and Rohit Sharma have won this award. However, none of the names mentioned above could win the award in consecutive years.

Four cricketers have achieved the unique feat of winning the ICC ODI Cricketer of the Year award in back-to-back years. Here’s a list of the four names:

    3. Virat Kohli

It should not be a surprise that Virat Kohli features on the list. The current Indian batter won the award in 2017 and 2018. He was at his supreme peak in ODI cricket in 2018 as he destroyed almost every opposition that he played against.
