ICC T20 World Cup 2022 is just around the corner. Less than 30 days remain for the grandest T20I event of the year, and all 16 teams have announced their squads for the mega event. There are some players like Rohit Sharma and Shakib Al Hasan, who have featured in all the T20 World Cups and will play in the upcoming mega event as well.
Interestingly, both Rohit and Shakib are the captains of their respective nations for the ICC T20 World Cup 2022. However, the following four names who played in every edition of the mega event from 2007 to 2021 will miss the 2022 T20 WC.
1. Chris Gayle will miss T20 World Cup for the first time
It is unknown whether Chris Gayle has retired from international cricket or not. However, the Jamaican star has not been picked in the West Indies squad for the mega event in Australia. He was a part of the team last year and picked up the wicket of Mitchell Marsh in their group stage match against Australia.
2. Dwayne Bravo will miss T20 World Cup for the first time
Dwayne Bravo announced his retirement from all formats of international cricket after the mega event in the Middle East last year. The all-rounder is one of the most successful players of all time in T20 cricket.
3. Mushfiqur Rahim
Veteran Bangladesh wicket-keeper batter Mushfiqur Rahim was struggling for form and consistency in the T20I format of late. After his poor run in Asia Cup 2022, Rahim announced retirement from T20Is to focus on ODIs and Tests.
4. Mahmudullah
Former Bangladesh captain Mahmudullah led the country in the previous edition of the mega event. However, his name is absent in the squad announced by the Bangladesh Cricket Board. The team will miss his experience in the batting department.
