SRH will announce their new captain for IPL 2023 tomorrow. The SunRisers Hyderabad made an announcement on Twitter earlier today that they will name their new skipper for the upcoming edition of the league tomorrow.
Fans across the world are excited to know which player will become the next skipper of the Hyderabad-based franchise. The Orange Army won the IPL in 2016 and qualified for playoffs in consecutive seasons until 2020. In 2021 and 2022, SRH failed to qualify for the playoffs, which is why they released the players who captained them, namely David Warner and Kane Williamson.
There are multiple leadership options available with SRH to name their captain for IPL 2023. Here’s a list of the top four candidates.
1. Bhuvneshwar Kumar can lead SRH in IPL 2023
Pace bowler Bhuvneshwar Kumar has previously been the deputy skipper of the SRH team. He also led the team in the absence of the main skipper’s absence. Kumar has a ton of experience under his belt and is a calm individual, which makes him a top candidate for the role.
2. Aiden Markram can lead SRH in IPL 2023
South African all-rounder Aiden Markram recently led SunRisers Hyderabad’s sister franchise SunRisers Eastern Cape to the SA20 title in South Africa. Markram did a great job for SRH last season, which is why the team management can name him their skipper.
3. Abhishek Sharma
A wildcard option in the race to become the new skipper of SRH is uncapped all-rounder Abhishek Sharma. He is the future of SRH, and it will be exciting to see an uncapped name become the skipper of a franchise.
4. Mayank Agarwal
SunRisers Hyderabad fought an intense bidding war to sign Mayank Agarwal at the IPL 2023 Auction. Agarwal captained Punjab Kings last season and did a decent job. He can be a great option for SRH’s captaincy as well.
