IPL Salaries have always been a talking point among the fans and the members of the cricket universe whenever an IPL Auction approaches. The unique thing about the Indian Premier League is that the franchise owners have equal purse value ahead of the auctions. So, they cannot build extraordinarily strong squads.

Depending on the auction tactics, some underrated names end up receiving huge IPL salaries, whereas some star players earn lesser IPL salaries. It is common to see an extraordinary increase or decrease in the IPL salaries of players. However, when it comes to blockbuster names, the only way of the graph trend is up.

That trend seems to be ending slowly because there were four retained players ahead of IPL Auction 2022 who have selflessly accepted a drop in their IPL salaries for the first time ever in their careers. Here’s a list of those four names.

1. MS Dhoni, Chennai Super Kings

Chennai Super Kings captain MS Dhoni has made a selfless move before IPL Auction 2022. He has kept himself at second position in the retention list of the CSK franchise. Ravindra Jadeja is number one with a salary of INR 16 crore. Dhoni’s salary has gone down from INR 15 crore to INR 12 crore ahead of the 2022 season.

Another big name to feature on this list is former Indian T20I captain Virat Kohli. Before IPL 2021 ended, Virat had clarified that he would step down as the RCB skipper after the 2021 season. His salary has also gone down. He made INR 17 crore in 2021, but he will earn INR 15 crore from RCB in 2022.

Australian all-rounder Glenn Maxwell joined the Indian Premier League in 2012 and since then his IPL salary has always gone up. In 2021, the Royal Challengers paid him INR 14.25 crore for the big hitter. However, before IPL Auction 2022, Maxwell has accepted a pay cut, and now his salary is INR 11 crore.

4. Sunil Narine, Kolkata Knight Riders

Caribbean all-rounder Sunil Narine joined the Kolkata Knight Riders in 2012. He has played all IPL seasons for KKR, with his salary always increasing. But in 2022, KKR have retained him for INR 6 crore down from INR 12.5 crore in 2021.
