IPL 2023 has been one of the most exciting seasons of the Indian Premier League so far. The 2023 edition of the league began on March 31 with a clash between the Gujarat Titans and the Chennai Super Kings. The first game was a last-over thriller, and after that, there have been multiple last-ball thrillers in the season so far.
Many senior players like Piyush Chawla, Ajinkya Rahane, Ishant Sharma, Mohit Sharma and Amit Mishra made their returns to the league this season and performed brilliantly. On the other side, there have been some young Indian players who have lost their places in the squad after a string of poor performances. Here’s a list of four such promising stars.
1. Prithvi Shaw was dropped in IPL 2023
Prithvi Shaw was one of the four retentions made by the Delhi Capitals before the 2022 season. Shaw could not impress in any of the six matches he played for the Delhi-based franchise this season. Since DC suffered five defeats in six matches, they decided to drop Shaw from the playing XI today.
2. Yash Dayal lost his place in IPL 2023
Yash Dayal was quite impressive for the Gujarat Titans in the 2022 season. In fact, he even earned a place in the Indian squad. However, Dayal proved to be very expensive with the ball in 2023. After Rinku Singh smacked five sixes off five balls off his bowling, GT gave up on Dayal.
3. Riyan Parag
Riyan Parag received a lot of backing from the Rajasthan Royals team management. He played more than 50 matches and made claims that he could be the best finisher for India. However, he could not perform well on the field and lost his place.
4. Sarfaraz Khan
After his performances in domestic cricket, fans had high hopes from Sarfaraz Khan in this season of IPL. However, DC dropped him from the team after giving him two matches, where he could not perform well.
