The first match of the 2022 edition of the Indian Premier League is currently underway in Mumbai with the Chennai Super Kings battling the Kolkata Knight Riders. Former Indian Test vice-captain Ajinkya Rahane is making his debut for the Kolkata Knight Riders franchise today. Rahane was quite impressive with the willow as he scored 44 runs off 36 balls.
Talking about the first innings of the match between the Chennai Super Kings and the Kolkata Knight Riders team in the 2022 edition of the Indian Premier League, Shreyas Iyer won the toss and invited the Chennai Super Kings to have a bat first.
Umesh Yadav bowled a fantastic spell, where he bagged the crucial wickets of Chennai Super Kings openers Ruturaj Gaikwad and Devon Conway. Speaking to the host broadcasters after a memorable spell in the opening game of the 2022 edition of the Indian Premier League, Yadav reflected on his spell and said:
“I think it’s quite a fresh wicket. It’s the first match so it’s gripping a touch. There’s good bounce and it helped the fast-bowlers and the spinners. Always nice when you do something good for the team and I picked up wickets in the Powerplay so I’m very happy.”
Ajinkya Rahane got KKR off to a good start in IPL 2022 match against CSK
Courtesy of the early wickets, CSK managed only 131/5 in their 20 overs. Thanks to MS Dhoni’s fifty, they crossed the 130-run mark, otherwise even 120 seemed tough. Ajinkya Rahane played a decent knock at the top, and he played a fantastic pull shot off Adam Milne’s bowling. It went for a six. You can watch the video here.
