In recent years, we have seen a lot of relations of former Pakistan cricketers play for the country. It is a terrific feat by the players to perform despite being under pressure of comparison.
1) Babar Azam – Kamran Akmal (Cousin)
Captain Babar Azam happens to be the cousin of Kamran Akmal, whose brother Umar Akmal was also a famous cricketer. Babar has definitely achieved more than his cousins for Pakistan. However, at their time, both Umar and Kamran were terrific and won many games for the country. Now, Babar is under pressure both as a batter and as a skipper.
2) Shaheen Afridi – Shahid Afridi (Father-in-law)
Shaheen Afridi is one of the relations of popular former cricketers who are in the current Pakistan ODI World Cup squad. A few months ago, Shaheen entered wedlock with the daughter of Shahid Afridi. Shahid is one of the best all-rounders that the game has seen. Shaheen is doing his name proud by leading the Pakistan attack well. It may not be a surprise if Shaheen becomes the captain of Pakistan in the next few years.
3) Shadab Khan – Saqlain Mushtaq (Father-in-law)
Noted Pakistan cricketer Saqlain Mushtaq is the father-in-law of Pakistan vice-captain Shadab Khan. The all-rounder has not had a memorable outing the World Cup. There are reports that he might even be dropped from the side after the conclusion of the mega event that is happening in India.
4) Imam-ul-Haq – Inzamam-ul-Haq (Uncle)
Imam-ul-Haq is also one of the relations of popular former cricketers who are in the current Pakistan ODI World Cup squad. Not many know that Imam is the nephew of former Pakistan skipper Inzamam. In fact, Inzamam was the Chief Selector who selected the World Cup squad. However, he resigned from the post after the dismal show by Pakistan in the tournament. Imam will have a tough road to satisfy the expectations coming from the family of a legend.
