So far, two editions of the ICC World Test Championship have concluded, with Australia and New Zealand winning one title each. Both the Trans-Tasman nations won the title after defeating India in the final only. South Africa have played some good cricket in the longest format of the game over the last four years, but they have not qualified for any WTC Finals.

Interestingly though, there have been four South Africa-born cricketers who have won the WTC trophy so far. Here’s a list of the four names.

South Africa-born batter Marnus Labuschagne was a member of the Australian squad that won the WTC Final 2023 against India earlier this year at The Oval. Labuschagne was born in South Africa, but his family moved to Australia at an early age, and now he plays cricket for the Aussies.

    2. Devon Conway won ICC World Test Championship 2021

Devon Conway grew up playing domestic cricket in South Africa, but because he did not get a place in the Proteas squad, he left the nation and moved to New Zealand permanently. He soon made his Test debut for the Kiwis and even won WTC 2021.

    3. BJ Watling

South Africa-born wicket-keeper batter BJ Watling played the last game of his Test career against India in the 2021 World Test Championship Final. Watling played international cricket for New Zealand and ended his career on a high with a WTC triumph.

    4. Neil Wagner

Another Kiwi player to feature on this unique list is the team’s left-arm fast bowler Neil Wagner. He has been an important member of the Kiwi Test squad for quite some time now. Wagner also won WTC 2021 with New Zealand.
