A new era in England ODI team will begin soon. After a flop show in the 2023 World Cup, where they could not even qualify for the semifinals, the English team is now set to undergo a transition. The white-ball coach Matthew Mott has been sacked as well, and several new names have made it to the squad for the upcoming series against Australia.

Even before the squad announcement, reports surfaced on the internet from English media, claiming that the selectors are now looking beyond the experienced players. With the Champions Trophy set to happen in 2025, England will look to play a new-look squad. Here’s a list of four star players who might never play for England in ODI cricket again.

    1. Jonny Bairstow may never play an ODI for England again

Jonny Bairstow has been one of the major batters for England in the 50-over format. He was a part of the squad that won the 2019 World Cup. However, Bairstow will soon 35, and that’s why the selectors may no longer consider him.

    2. Moeen Ali may never play an ODI for England again

All-rounder Moeen Ali has proven himself as a game-changer in the white-ball formats with his big hits and off-spin bowling. The all-rounder was even the deputy skipper in the 50-over format, but it seems like we have seen the last of him in ODIs.

    3. Ben Stokes

Ben Stokes already retired from ODIs once but he came back to play the 2023 ODI World Cup. Considering that he had to undergo knee surgery after the ODI World Cup, he may never consider returning to the 50-over format in the future.

    4. Liam Livingstone

Liam Livingstone is famous for his big shots in the white-ball formats. He is one of the few all-rounders who can bowl both leg-spin and off-spin. Unfortunately for the all-rounder, the English selectors are not looking at him as an ODI player now.
