Chennai Super Kings are one of the best teams in the history of T20 franchise cricket. They have won the IPL under MS Dhoni a record five times: in 2010, 2011, 2018, 2021, and 2023. On the other hand, they are also the current title holders, having won the 16th edition of the league, beating the Gujarat Titans in the final.

Many big names have represented this franchise over the years, since the inaugural season in 2008. English all-rounder Moeen Ali is also part of the current CSK set-up. He joined the team in 2021 and has become a vital part of the team.

He was part of the team in the 2021 and 2023 winning seasons. However, Moeen recently revealed his all-time XI for CSK, in which he included some big names, while the biggest surprise for some fans was that he left out Faf du Plessis.

He has also not included himself on the team. Moeen has picked former all-rounder Shane Watson to open the inning with Ruturaj Gaikwad. He didn’t pick the likes of Matthew Hayden, Brendon McCullum, Murali Vijay, Stephen Fleming, or even Faf du Plessis.

For No. 3, he picked Mr. IPL Suresh Raina, who has scored 5529 runs for CSK in 200 games. For the middle order, he picked Ambati Rayudu (1932 runs) and Mike Hussey (2213 runs). Without a doubt, MS Dhoni was the captain of the team. He has scored 4957 runs in 244 games for CSK.

Moeen picked Ravindra Jadeja and Dwayne Bravo as the two all-rounders in the team. Jadeja has been part of the team since 2012 and has scored 1786 runs and taken 134 wickets in 174 games. On the other hand, Bravo has taken 154 wickets and scored 1280 runs in 130 games.

The English all-rounder picks Harbhajan Singh (23), Deepak Chahar (71) and Josh Hazlewood (12) as the three bowlers in the team. Moeen didn’t pick the likes of Ravi Ashwin, Albie Morkel, Mohit Sharma, and L Balaji. However, Moeen picked this playing XI on the basis of his choices since joining the team.
