Josh Inglis won the hearts of the fans with a match-winning knock of 58 runs off 59 balls against the Sri Lankan cricket team yesterday in the 2023 World Cup. Inglis came out to bat in a tricky position when Australia were down to 81/3 in a run-chase of 210 at the Bharat Ratna Shree Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Stadium in Lucknow.
Playing his first ODI World Cup, Inglis showed no nerves and played his natural game, scoring 58 runs. He hit five fours and a six in his match-winning knock. Looking at how he absorbed the pressure and considering that he is a wicket-keeper as well, multiple IPL teams may show interest in Josh’s skills at the next auction. Here’s a list of four teams that can sign him.
1. Chennai Super Kings can target Josh Inglis
Chennai Super Kings have a fantastic wicketkeeping option in MS Dhoni, and they also have Devon Conway. However, considering that Dhoni may retire soon, the franchise would like to have a backup in the form of Inglis.
2. Delhi Capitals can target Josh Inglis
Middle-order wicketkeeper batter Rishabh Pant got injured before IPL 2023 and missed the entire season. The Delhi Capitals struggled a lot in his absence, and they could not find a proper replacement as well. While Pant should be back for IPL 2024, DC should also think of signing Inglis.
3. Kolkata Knight Riders
Kolkata Knight Riders failed to form a settled batting lineup last year. They can think of bringing Josh to the setup, who can bat in the middle-order and also keep the wickets for the team.
4. Royal Challengers Bangalore
Royal Challengers Bangalore have used Dinesh Karthik as their primary wicketkeeper since 2022. Josh is a similar type of player, and he can be a backup option for Karthik at RCB.
