In a disappointing development for all Indian cricket fans, the team’s ace fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah has been ruled out of the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup 2022. According to reports, Bumrah is suffering from a serious stress injury, which will keep him out of action for four to six weeks.
As a result, Bumrah is unlikely to play in the ICC T20 World Cup 2022. The team management is likely to replace him with either Deepak Chahar or Mohammed Shami, two players present in the list of reserves. However, fans know that the Indian selectors love to think out of the box and make surprise selections for big tournaments.
The same thing could happen in ICC T20 World Cup 2022, and one of the following four unexpected candidates could make a comeback to replace Bumrah.
1. T Natarajan could replace Jasprit Bumrah
T Natarajan has surprisingly not played a single T20I for India since 2021. He did well for the team on their tour of Australia in 2020. Because of his experience and good record in Australian conditions, Natarajan could earn a surprise recall to the Indian squad.
2. Khaleel Ahmed could replace Jasprit Bumrah
Khaleel Ahmed has always been a wicket-taking option in T20 cricket. However, for some reason, he has not played international cricket in the last two years. His good IPL showing for Delhi Capitals could keep him in the hunt for a surprise recall.
3. Mohsin Khan
The Indian selectors might not be keen to take Mohsin Khan straight to the T20 World Cup, but he could be the surprise package if used well. His left-arm fast bowling is unique and suited for Australian conditions. He could solve some problems for India.
4. Umran Malik
India’s bowling has lacked serious pace. With Jasprit Bumrah ruled out as well, India need a gun pace bowler. Umran Malik could be that option as he clocks 150 kmph frequently on the speedometer.
