As the IPL retentions were announced, surprisingly a few names were let go by the franchises which made the entire world question.
With that being said, out of the big names who got released, one may think that all of them will be rehired. However, IPL has proven to be very unpredictable before, especially the auctions. You never know who may selected and who may not. Here are five big players who were released and may not be sold in the upcoming auction.
1. Faf du Plessis
It goes without saying that the former RCB skipper is one of the best in business. But one of his biggest advantages is his age. Any franchise that will like to invest in him would want him to go for a longer race and standing at 40, it might be a challenge that can be prove to be quite a handful for Proteas skipper. Also, he won’t come for cheap. So unless he is coming at base price, franchises may not shown interest in Faf.
2. T Natarajan
T Natarajan is an excellent left-arm seamer and the yorker specialist has drifted in and out of form because of his injuries. With so much of uncertainly lurking around, Natarajan was released by SRH and he might not be rehired by the other franchises considering his injury problem.
3. Rilee Rossouw
The hard-hitting South African batter, Rilee Rossouw was released by Punjab Kings. He is an excellent striker of the ball but once again his inconsistency might be a major factor and unless that is take care of, with a big amount that might come for Rossouw, uncertainty might play a huge role in defining his fate at the auction.
4. Glenn Maxwell
Maxwell is undoubtedly one of the best power-hitters to have graced the sport and yet somehow his last season won’t be instilling too much hopes in the hearts of the franchises. Maxi can rock the ball at will and can flip the game at any point in time. He is a star striker of the ball but somehow this sudden bursts of inconsistencies really leave him rattled all over.
5. Liam Livingstone
Another star English striker of the ball might be ignored by the franchises considering his dwindling numbers in recent times. Ideally, franchises want reliability to get the wheels rolling for a big name and somehow or the other, Livingstone has performed in patches. There have been instances where he has shot through the skies and there have been times when he has failed miserably. Without that balance, the IPL franchises might just look the big man.
