WPL 2023 Final is all set to take place this Sunday at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai. Tabletoppers Delhi Capitals will take on Mumbai Indians in the first-ever final of the Women’s Premier League. The Delhi team is led by Meg Lanning, while the Mumbai squad is playing under the captaincy of Harmanpreet Kaur.
Some die-hard fans of cricket have noticed how just like IPL 2008, the inaugural Women’s Premier League final will also take place between two teams who are playing under the leadership of an Australian and an Indian. Apart from that, there are also some other coincidences between the campaigns of WPL finalists Mumbai Indians and inaugural IPL finalists Chennai Super Kings. Here’s a list of five such coincidences:

1. Captain of team has jersey number 7
Chennai Super Kings played in IPL 2008 under the captaincy of MS Dhoni, who wears the jersey number seven. Mumbai Indians captain in WPL is Harmanpreet Kaur, whose jersey number is also seven.
2. 1st team to take hat-trick in IPL 2008 and WPL 2023
Chennai Super Kings fast bowler Lakshmipathy Balaji was the first player to take a hat-trick in Indian Premier Leagueh history. Similarly, MI’s bowler Issy Wong took the first-ever hat-trick in WPL.
3. Scored 200+ in first match of IPL and WPL 2023
Chennai Super Kings started their campaign with a big score in their debut game against the Punjab Kings. Even Mumbai Indians did the same with a 200+ total in their debut game against the Gujarat Giants.
4. Only team to win first 4 matches
Another interesting coincidence is that the Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians were the only two teams in the IPL 2008 and WPL to win their first four matches of the competition.
5. 2nd entrant in final
Rajasthan Royals was the first team to qualify for semifinal, and then Chennai Super Kings joined them. Similarly, Delhi Capitals made it to final first in WPL 2023, and MI followed them.
