Rajasthan Royals were the inaugural champions of the Indian Premier League in the year 2008. The Royals played the initial seasons under the captaincy of Shane Warne, but in recent seasons, Sanju Samson has captained the Rajasthan-based franchise.
In the past, RR had the habit of unearthing new talent, but things have changed now, and RR don’t mind spending big on superstar players. Over the years, several overseas stars represented RR, but the following five foreigners never got an IPL deal after Rajasthan released them.
1. Kevon Cooper only played for Rajasthan Royals
Former Caribbean all-rounder Kevon Cooper was famous for his big hits and medium pace bowling. Unfortunately, Cooper was reported for suspect action around 2014, and that put brakes on his career.
2. Lee Carseldine
Not many fans would know that uncapped Australian all-rounder Lee Carseldine turned up for the Rajasthan-based team in 2009. It was his only IPL gig.
3. Sohail Tanvir only played for Rajasthan Royals
Former Pakistan left-arm fast bowler Sohail Tanvir was the inaugural Purple Cap winner. Tanvir lost his deal in 2009 because the BCCI banned the Pakistan players from participating in the tournament.
4. Younus Khan
Another former Pakistan star to feature on the list is Younus Khan. The former Pakistan skipper was a member of the Royals squad that won the first IPL season in 2008.
5. Kamran Akmal
Known for his wicketkeeping, former Pakistan player Kamran Akmal also played for the Royals in the 2008 season. He had registered for the 2010 IPL Auction as well along with many Pakistan players. However, none of the IPL teams signed them.
