Major League Cricket 2023 is all set to commence today in Dallas. It is the first edition of USA’s IPL-style T20 tournament. Four IPL franchises, namely Delhi Capitals, Chennai Super Kings, Mumbai Indians and Kolkata Knight Riders have invested in franchises of this league. Two Australian teams have also associated themselves with the competition.
Several big names of world cricket like Faf du Plessis, Quinton de Kock, Kieron Pollard, Andre Russell, Dwayne Bravo, Marcus Stoinis, Dewald Brevis, Aaron Finch, Sunil Narine and others will play in this league. Some forgotten IPL stars will also turn up for MLC teams. Here’s a list of five such names:
1. Moises Henriques is a captain in Major League Cricket
Portugal-born Australian all-rounder Moises Henriques will be the captain of Washington Freedom in MLC. He has been an underrated match-winner for many IPL franchises in the past.
2. Unmukt Chand will play in Major League Cricket
Unmukt Chand’s downfall started after Kolkata Knight Riders’ speedster Brett Lee dismissed him for a golden duck on the first ball of IPL. Now, Chand will play for Los Angeles Knight Riders in MLC.
3. Rusty Theron
Rusty Theron came into the limelight after performing well for the Warriors in Champions League T20. Theron will turn up for the Texas Super Kings in MLC.
4. Martin Guptill
Martin Guptill once opened the batting for the Mumbai Indians, Sunrisers Hyderabad and Punjab Kings in IPL. The Kiwi star will turn up for the Los Angeles Knight Riders now.
5. Liam Plunkett
Liam Plunkett played for the Delhi Daredevils in his IPL career. The former England fast bowler has become an American now. He will play for the San Francisco Unicorns in MLC.
