Zimbabwe is not considered among the strongest teams in world cricket. There was a time when the Zimbabwean outfit would give nightmares to the top-ranked nations at ICC events as well as bilateral tours. However, in recent years, the African team has struggled to make an impact on the cricket field.

At the moment, Zimbabwe is hosting India for a three-match ODI series in the ICC Cricket World Cup Super League. This series is vital for the home side because if they manage to earn all 30 points from this series, their chances of qualifying for the ICC World Cup 2023 will increase significantly.

It is not that the Zimbabwean outfit has never beaten India in ODI matches. Here’s a list of five Indian captains who lost an ODI game against the African side.

    2. Suresh Raina has a dismal record as captain against Zimbabwe

Suresh Raina was named the Indian captain for a tri-series against the Zimbabwean side and the Sri Lankan cricket team in 2010. He led a ‘B’ team in that series, and they lost twice to the African outfit in two matches.

    3. Sachin Tendulkar lost two ODIs against Zimbabwe as Indian captain

Former Indian cricketer Sachin Tendulkar had an excellent record with the bat, but he did not have the best numbers as captain. In six ODIs against the African nation, the Indian team recorded three wins and two losses under Tendulkar.

    4. Sourav Ganguly

Former Indian skipper Sourav Ganguly led the Men in Blue in 20 matches against the African outfit from 2000 to 2005. India won 17 out of those 20 matches, but they suffered a defeat in three games as well.
