IPL 2025 Mega Auction is officially in the history books. The two-day event happened in Saudi Arabia, with 10 teams spending over 600 crore to sign the players they wished to. Rishabh Pant emerged as the most expensive player of the auction, earning a 27-crore deal from Lucknow Super Giants.
Shreyas Iyer also received a 26.75 crore contract from the Punjab Kings, while Kolkata Knight Riders spent 23.75 crore to get Venkatesh Iyer back in the team. While it was a big payday for the aforementioned three players, the following five Indian players shockingly remained unsold at IPL 2025 Mega Auction.
1. Prithvi Shaw remained unsold at IPL 2025 Mega Auction
Former India U-19 World Cup winning captain Prithvi Shaw did not attract a single bid at the mega auction. He had a base price of just 75 lakh, but not a single team wanted Shaw in their squads.
2. Shardul Thakur remained unsold at IPL 2025 Mega Auction
Just a year ago, Shardul Thakur was playing for India in the 2023 ODI World Cup. He had an IPL contract of 10.75 crore with Kolkata Knight Riders, but not even one team wanted him at the mega auction.
3. Mayank Agarwal
Mayank Agarwal was the captain of the Punjab Kings team in 2022. Three seasons later, no one wants Agarwal in their squads. It is a bit surprising to note teams did not even want to shell out INR 1 crore for him.
4. Shivam Mavi
At the start of 2023, Shivam Mavi made a fantastic start to his T20I career against Sri Lanka. It looked like he would become the next superstar in Indian cricket, but in 2025, Mavi won’t even have an IPL contract.
5. Umesh Yadav
Umesh Yadav has always been a reliable bowler with the new ball in the IPL. He was with the Gujarat Titans in IPL 2024, but this year, not even one team raised the paddle for him when his name came up with a base price of INR 2 crore.
